Makala started piano lessons on November 26, 2007 at 9 years of age. Recently she said, "I like piano because it's something that makes me work hard and never give up. I love learning new songs and going to recitals so people can hear the beautiful sound of a piano. At first it was difficult but once you learn more stuff it gets so much fun. I also love the sound of a piano too its so smooth and soft; but most of all my piano teacher is great. She's a teacher who doesn't mind if you get confused or miss a few days of practice and doesn't give you too much work and she makes piano fun! That's why I like piano."
